Bon Voyage...

Friday evening we drove our daughter, Kristin, to the airport for her annual trip to Scotland (she's a tenor drummer for a competition bagpipe band and they are competing in the World Pipe Band Championships next weekend - woo hoo!). Well I couldn't send her off without making her a card to mark the occasion... could I?  Of course not!

The card was made with Whisper White and Read Red Cardstock and some retired Designer Series Paper called "Sent with Love." I love this paper, but since it seems to have a specific purpose, I never used it all until now.  I cut images from one of the sheets, then stamped "Bon Voyage" in Real Red ink using Stampin' Up!'s new ABC-123 Sketch Alphabet & Numbers stamp set (item 130565).
The "par avion" tag is accented with Real Red 1/8" Ribbon. Of course no card for Kristin would be complete without "bling" so I added Rhinestone Basic Jewels outlining the plane's trail.  I'm so pleased with how this card turned out, even though it looks so much cuter in person!  I hope you like it.

Thanks for stopping by, now go stamp! :)

It's Time for Something Completely Different

I've not done a square card since Stampin' Up! retired square envelopes a few years back, but I'm trying to step out of my "comfort zone" and do things which are a little different... like using colors which are less than my favorite.  I'm sure you can probably figure out which element is my favorite - yes, it is the plaid paper in the background!  Tee hee!  I really love the way this card turned out, and I have a new appreciation for some of these colors. <smile>

Are you interested in making this 5-1/2" squared card?  Just grab the following supplies:

Stamp set - Best of Greetings (item number 133485 - Best of 25 Years set from June), Truly Grateful (from the Holiday catalog)

Perfect Blend Convention Swap

Convention was amazing!  The whole experience exceeded my expectations! You really need to be there to feel the excitement that 5,800 Stampin' Up! demonstrators can generate!

One of the things I love to do at Stampin' Up! events is swap.  What's swapping? You create a card (or two... or in my case five) and make multiples of that design (I did 45 of each card), then you trade them with other people. I swapped over 200 cards and now have over 200 new ideas!

Here's one of the cards I created - I must say... it's my favorite!

Want to recreate this card?  Use these items:

Stamp Sets - Perfect Blend, Dictionary Background Stamp, Notable Notions
Cardstock - Very Vanilla, Gumball Green and Early Espresso, Crumb Cake
Ink - Early Espresso and Gumball Green
Accessories - Bakers Twine, Chalk Talk Framelits, Paper Snips, 1" Circle Punch, Paper Piercer
