2018 Sale-A-Bration Kre8tors Blog Hop

The Kre8tors Blog Hop group is at it again! This time, we're bringing you some amazing projects using Sale-a-Bration items! You've just arrived from Leisa Pedersen... didn't you just love what she created? There are so many fun items in the Sale-a-Bration catalog and in case you didn't know... there are more to be released on February 16! But this hop is to showcase the first round of items (because there are SO many).

I haven't had much time to craft lately (did you read my last post?) so there are still some Sale-a-Bration sets I haven't used. But I decided to create something quick and easy (kind of like this post) because that's how I roll lately.

This card uses three Sale-a-Bration items: Bubbles and Fizz Designer Series Paper, the Amazing You stamp set, and coordinating Celebrate You thinlits. This card was amazingly simple! I tried adding ribbon and other embellishments, but it didn't need it... it ended up looking cluttered.

Shameless plug: You can choose the paper or stamp set for a $50 order, or the thinlits for a $100 order. Want all three? Place a $200 order! And for a $200 order, you earn $20 in Stampin' Rewards (more free stuff). Cool, huh?

Thank you for stopping by today. I'm off to take care of the dogs now... I was at the vet until 2am because the husky decided to eat a Swiffer duster. Yep. Good times!

Happy hopping back to Melissa Tennison (if you didn't start there - you definitely need to check out what she created!). And if you've missed any of the blogs, you can click on one of the links below and start over.

2018 Occasions Catalog Kre8tors Blog Hop!

In case you hadn't noticed, I love participating in blog hops! Why? Why not! Seriously... the reason is it brings together a talented group of Stampin' Up! demonstrators and gives you, the hopper (reader), so much inspiration in one place (so to speak).

You've just hopped over from the talented Amy Grendel. I know what you're thinking... I need to CASE that! Me, too.

The first stamp set shown in the Occasions catalog is Birthday Wishes for You and as soon as I saw it demonstrated at OnStage in November, I knew then I had to order it... mostly because it's a great set if you like to fussy-cut... like I do! And this little element screams Stampin' Blends!

I have to admit, it would have been MUCH easier if I had colored first, then cut. And I probably should have used the basic gray Stampin' Write marker instead of the Basic Gray Stampin' Blends for the "shadow" around the edges, as the Blends kinda spread into the other colors. I don't mind it so much - and I wasn't about to stamp, color, then cut another one. This cut-out took forever! LOL!

Check out that bow! Doesn't it look 3-D? It's not! I cut it out from one of the pieces of the Picture Perfect Party Designer Series Paper. Don't believe me? Look!

And here it is... the finished product - er, I mean card. Isn't it fun???

Oh, and the confetti on the With many wishes just for you tag was made by dotting the Stampin' Blends. Festive, don't you think?

I'm so happy you hopped along! If you happened to start here or somewhere in the middle, use the next button, or follow the list below. You definitely do not want to miss Melissa's post!

A Color Challenge 30 Years in the Making

If you haven't heard, this year is the 30th anniversary of Stampin' Up!, so it makes sense the company is updating their look. Last week, Sara Douglass - CEO of Stampin' Up! - did a Facebook Live video explaining the logo refresh process, what's different, and what or why certain elements will remain unchanged.

During the video, Sara mentioned the two colors the design team settled on, but they weren't necessarily her favorites: Night of Navy and Calypso Coral. I have to admit, this combination isn't my favorite either. However... I've always loved Night of Navy (usually paired it with white and silver for holiday cards) but Calypso Coral never received much love from me. So this truly is a color challenge!
I immediately knew which elements I wanted to use on the card (thank you Sale-a-Bration!) - and that I wanted it to be simple... simply because the Heartfelt Blooms stamp set provides that WOW factor! It's hard to believe such a flat stamp could create such dimension... you'll have to see - and use - it to believe it.

The Stamparatus (available to everyone when the 2018-2019 annual catalog comes out) was used to create multiples of this card... although I decided to change the orientation and make another entirely different card (I probably should have changed the position of the stamp, as I think it's a bit high).

A little tip for the top card... put adhesive (I used Fast Fuse) on the back of the Calypso Coral ribbon, then adhere it to the Night of Navy crinkled seam binding ribbon. Then, cut a smaller piece of both for the top layer. Finish it off by wrapping Calypso Coral around both ribbon layers. And yes... that last piece has a backing of adhesive so it stays in place. ;)

So quick and easy. One stamp, one ink, a few pieces of cardstock, ribbon, and adhesive. Don't have ribbon? The card would still look amazing! Why don't you give it a try?
